Description

After having been betrayed by her partner of thirteen years, Janalyn isn’t looking for another relationship, especially not one separated by miles of ocean.

But when she travels to Devon, England, for a conference and meets a sporty Brit named Robyn, desires Janalyn thought were permanently lost are suddenly back and stronger than ever.

Despite cultural differences, poking fun at each other’s use of the English language, and Robyn coming off as a player, Janalyn can’t help the attraction she feels, no matter how hard she tries.

Can she and Robyn find a common ground upon which to make a life together? Will Janalyn throw caution to the wind and risk her heart again? If Janalyn does indeed venture across the pond, will love be her life preserver?

Across The Pond is charming, witty, and funny. The story is about a woman who just wanted to love, and be loved. After a shocking revelation between the main character, Janalyn and her girlfriend Faith, Janalyn never imagined she would find love again and when she did, it was a most welcome surprise.

The character development of this novel was really well written and timed. You really get to know the characters and it feels as though you are with them on their adventures. As a reader you could get into the minds and each personality of every character within the book.

There are two things that I found a little bit disappointing. Firstly, was how fast Janalyn fell in love with Robin. I would liked to have seen a bit more development around their relationship. I did like the mental battle Janalyn kept having — that’s something I’m sure a lot of us do! And secondly, to me the book ended rather suddenly. Janalyn and Robin just had quite an intense and serious conversation and for the story to end with no explanation on what they decided to do has left me wondering all sorts. Perhaps Cheri Crystal is planning on writing a sequel? I do hope so!

Overall, I would most definitely recommend this book to my friends. If you like romance, humour and hurt/comfort then this is the book to get stuck into.

This is a bittersweet story all around. After a devestating breakup, lead character Janalyn delves into her career and foregoes all chances of love.
Enter best friend Debs and watch said career blossom! The two are a team and a force to be reckoned with! After a conference takes them to another continent is it possible Jan has again found love? Robin is everything she could hope for, or is she? Are these star-crossed lovers meant to be?

The angst is a bit thick and the ending a bit abrupt. But if you want sweet and don’t mind a quick ending, this story is for you.
